Rita Reys (Rotterdam, 21 december 1924) is een Nederlandse jazz-zangeres.

Carrière
Rita Reys is sinds 1960 officieel Europe's First Lady of Jazz. Ze maakte tientallen platen en cd's en trad op met onder meer Jimmy Smith, Art Blakey's Jazzmessengers, Dizzy Gillespie, Johnny Griffin, Stan Getz, Lester Young, Scott Hamilton, Zoot Sims en Milt Hinton. Ze won onder andere de Bird Award en de American Songbook Award. Sinds 1980 is Reys ereburger van New Orleans.
Reys werd zesmaal onderscheiden met een Edison Music Award: voor haar lp's Marriage in modern jazz (1960), Rita Reys Today (1969), Rita Reys Sings Burt Bacharach (1971), Rita Reys Sings Michel Legrand (1972) en Two for tea (1988, met Louis van Dijk). In 2006 won Reys als eerste Nederlandse jazzmuzikant een Oeuvre Edison. De jury noemde Reys "onbetwist de grootste jazz-zangeres die ons land heeft voortgebracht".
In 2007 gaf Reys samen met het Kwintet Ruud Jacobs een optreden in Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam, waarvan een dvd werd opgenomen. Haar meest recente studio-cd is Beautiful Love - A tribute to Pim Jacobs, een eerbetoon aan Pim Jacobs.
In 2008 trad Rita Reys voor de 19e keer in haar carrière op tijdens het North Sea Jazz Festival, samen met de Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. In 2008/2009 staat Reys 65 jaar op het podium, waarvan 55 jaar met haar zwager en bassist Ruud Jacobs.
Persoonlijk leven
Rita Reys werd geboren in een artistiek gezin: haar vader was violist en haar moeder revuedanseres. Van 1945 tot diens dood in 1957 was Reys getrouwd met drummer Wessel Ilcken, met wie ze in 1954 een dochter, Leila, kreeg. In 1960 hertrouwde ze met begeleider-pianist Pim Jacobs, die in 1996 overleed.
